Mindfulness and Another Pause (Menopause Alert)
Did you know you can start having random symptoms in your 30s?
Hello Mindful Reader,
Today, I'm switching gears a bit. Last week, I was on stage sharing about mindfulness, which was a summer highlight! I love being asked to talk about mindfulness; it's my life. My son sat in the audience and heard me, which was actually—kinda cool!
Today, I'd like to explore the often unspoken and misunderstood world of menopause. This is a time of significant change for many women, and being informed and prepared can make all the difference. Whether you’re just beginning to experience symptoms or are well into your menopausal transition, mindfulness can be a powerful ally. (Did you know you can start having random symptoms in your 30s?)
What is Menopause?
Menopause is a natural phase in a woman’s life, marking the end of her reproductive years. It usually occurs between ages 45 and 55 but can vary significantly. Despite being natural, it can cause various physical and emotional symptoms that can interfere with everyday life, including relationships, job performance, and even driving!
Symptoms of Hormonal Imbalance
Understanding the symptoms can help you navigate this transition more smoothly. Common symptoms include:
- Mood swings
- Sleep disruption
- Dryness (skin, hair, and vaginal)
- Hot flashes
- Night sweats
Mindfulness and Menopause
You might wonder why I am talking about menopause. The connection is simple and profound—at the root of our beings are our hormones. When they are disrupted, mindfulness can feel like an uphill battle. Creating a mindfulness practice is essential, but understanding and optimizing your hormones is foundational.
Introducing NABA: The Natural Art of Being Alive
I’m excited to share that I have joined forces with NABA, an incredible organization focusing on holistic health and wellness. Together, we offer a GOLDEN HOUR experience—a journey to discover your whole being with hormone supplementation. Why is this important? Balancing your hormones can significantly enhance the benefits of mindfulness practices. It also saves you from ruining any relationship and stops the rage in your head, also known as the inner critic! I am VERY familiar with this!
Join Our Community
With NABA, you’ll have access to 14 other amazing holistic practitioners and a supportive community of women on the same journey. Through hormone supplements and weekly calls with me, you’ll find balance, peace of mind, and a community that encourages growth and expansion.
There’s nothing quite like this—a holistic solution to hormonal (IM)balance combined with the power of mindfulness. I love being part of this community and I hope you will join us. If you have questions, I’m here for you, cheering you on every step of the way.
And Now Your Weekly Practice: The Pause Practice
Take a moment each day to pause and center yourself. Here’s a simple practice to get you started:
1. Find a Quiet Space: Sit comfortably and close your eyes.
2. Breathe Deeply: Inhale slowly through your nose, hold for a moment, then exhale through your mouth.
3. Focus on the Present: Bring your attention to the present moment. Notice the sensations in your body and let go of any tension.
4. Set an Intention: Set a positive intention for your day, whether to be kind to yourself or approach challenges with patience.
Repeat this practice as often as needed to stay grounded and present throughout your day.
I hope to see you in our community soon. Remember, you’re not alone on this journey.
With love and support,

Fun Fact 🐋
Did you know that whales are one of the few other species that experience menopause? These magnificent creatures post-reproductive females take on leadership roles within their pods, guiding and nurturing the younger generations.
